Singing Opportunity for Sprinters
What is a Sprinter?
This opportunity is set up for people who can’t commit to being part of a choir that rehearses every week, but love to sing. Our concert on May 5, 2018 will be of a semi-professional standard that includes professionals and nonprofessionals, so we do require that people commit to the rehearsals involved. We have designed the rehearsal schedule to accommodate those who can only handle a small commitment.
When: Winter and Spring of 2018
Who: People who love to sing. Those who don’t read music will be supported by recordings for practicing at home and short tutorials during the rehearsals. Those who do read music should be able to learn most of the music during our 5 rehearsals. Our regular choir members (the marathoners) are ready and willing to support you and guide you through this process.
Concert Date: 7:00 p.m on Saturday, May 5 2018
Concert title and theme: God is the Dance!

Rehearsals: Thursday, Mar 22 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, Apr 7 10 a.m. to noon
Thursday, Apr 12 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Thursday, Apr 26 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Dress Rehearsal Saturday, May 5 4:00 to 6:30 p.m.
Commitment required: Participants are asked to commit to attend at least 2 of the 3 Thursday rehearsals and both of the Saturday rehearsals in their entirety. Permission to be absent from part of any rehearsals should be requested from the director. Please consider that attendance is not just about learning the notes to the music, but the interpretation of this particular director and the rehearsal of details executed by a large group of people. The individuals in the group react to the other members around them in terms of blending and cohesive energy in the sound, so all members need to be present.

FAQs
1. I can’t come to all of the rehearsals. Can I still sing in the concert? Speak to the conductor about how much time you will have to miss and together, you can try to come up with a plan that will work for everyone. Ann can be reached at 519-569-1980 by text or phonecall or [email protected].
2. I don't think I sing very well. How can I know if I am good enough to join the group? There are two ways to proceed.

2. I don't think I sing very well. How can I know if I am good enough to join the group? There are two ways to proceed.
- The first option is to come to rehearsals and just listen until you feel comfortable singing. You can learn a lot just by listening to the instruction given by the director.
- The second option is to book a 15 minute meeting with the director. During this time, the director will help you explore the potential in your voice, give suggestions about how to use your voice, and make recommendations about the role you might play in the choir.
